What are #UNewHavenBMEs up to this summer?
“I am an intern at Abcam in Branford, CT working with the Product Development team." Says Jordan Rippe, a second year Biomedical Engineering Student at the University of New Haven (UNH). "My project involves assisting the transition from manual to automated high-throughput processes in the antibody product pipeline. The Biomedical Engineering program at UNH has given me valuable knowledge about how to coordinate efforts of different disciplines in order to increase efficiency. During this internship, I am learning many new biological procedures/instrumentation and how they can be optimized and integrated with automation to faster deliver antibodies to the researcher. The internship will shift focus in the fall as I will advise a UNH Senior Design team as they collaborate with Abcam on a project to increase their throughput. In the long run, the researchers at Abcam will be able to focus more on the science, do less manual benchwork, and save money on product development.”
